How to Scan a QR Code

    Pick a source. Use the Camera / Image toggle at the top of the panel depending on whether you're scanning something in front of you or a saved picture.

    Camera: click "Start Camera," allow access when your browser asks, and hold the QR code inside the brackets. It locks on and decodes automatically — no button to press.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is any data sent to a server?
No. Scanning uses the jsQR library running entirely in your browser. Whether you use the camera or upload an image, decoding happens locally via the HTML5 Canvas API. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.
Why won't my camera start?
Camera access needs your permission and an HTTPS page — it won't work on plain HTTP. If you already denied access, you'll need to re-enable it in your browser's site settings. On desktop, make sure no other app is using the camera.
What kinds of QR codes can it read?
Any standard QR code: links, plain text, email addresses, phone numbers, Wi-Fi credentials, and vCard contact cards. The scanner shows a type tag next to the result so you know what you're looking at.
The image upload says no code was found — why?
Usually the code is too small, blurry, rotated at a steep angle, or the photo was taken at a harsh angle to the surface. Try a straighter, closer, well-lit shot, or use camera mode and hold the code flat and steady.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. On phones it requests the rear-facing camera by default, which is what you want for scanning a physical code. If your device only has one camera, it uses that instead.
Does the scan log stay saved if I leave the page?
No — the log lives only in memory for the current visit, by design, since nothing here is stored or sent anywhere. Copy anything you need before you navigate away or refresh.
